As a Skolera site admin, with the right privileges, you can make sure that grades entered for students by teachers are not changed after they were advertised to Parents and Students.


You can lock a grading period or a sub-period. Once locked, teachers will not be able to edit, delete or change the details and grades under the locked period. Only an admin with the right privilege will be allowed to do so.


To lock a Course Grading Period:

  1. Log onto your Skolera site as an Admin
  2. Go to Focus Insights > Courses
  3. Next to the grading period, you will find 2 icons
    1. The publish Icon (The Eye)
    2. The Lock Icon (The Lock)
  4. Click on the lock Icon to toggle between Locked and Unlocked states. The Icon will change to a closed Lock for locked periods and an open Lock for Unlocked periods.



Results of Locking a Grading Period for a course:

  1. Assignments:
    1. A teacher can not change an assignment publish or due date under the locked period
    2. A teacher can not change the grade category or sub-category of an assignment with due date within the locked period
    3. A teacher can not create a new assignment with due date within the locked period
    4. A teacher can not delete an existing assignment with due date within the locked period
    5. A teacher can not change the grades for an assignment with due date within the locked period
  2. Quizzes:
    1. A teacher can not change a quiz publish or due date under the locked period
    2. A teacher can not change the grade category or sub-category of a quiz with due date within the locked period
    3. A teacher can not create a new quiz with due date within the locked period
    4. A teacher can not delete an existing quiz with due date within the locked period
    5. A teacher can not change the grades for a quiz with due date within the locked period
  3. Grade Items:
    1. A teacher can not change the grade category or sub-category of a grade item under the locked period
    2. A teacher can not create a new grade item under the locked period
    3. A teacher can not delete an existing grade item under the locked period
    4. A teacher can not change the grades for a grade item under the locked period
